Are you ready for homeschooling?

Updated: Jul 16, 2021

So, tomorrow it begins for us Sydney-siders. Homeschooling again! Maybe you have dodged the homeschool bullet but you’re stuck at home with little ones. And working 😳

How are you feeling about it?

Some tips for the next week (or so…😬)

✔️ Order groceries online and get delivery. You can do the same for your take out too. Supports local companies while staying safe. ✔️ Create a personalised schedule with a tick box (if you have school aged child who can read) e.g. breaky, clothes, teeth, hair, 1 hour of class, recess, 1 hour of class, exercise, lunch and so on) with a reward at the end of the day if they do well. I created something similar for my 4 year olds too, with pictures, so they can follow a guide to get ready for the day and they love checking the items off. ✔️ Get simple / easy meals, like breakfast biscuits for the kids, deli meals that are already seasoned etc and you can just pop in the oven. I even bought a deli meal side dish so dinner is sorted for tomorrow 👌🏻 ✔️ Get some fresh air - take the kids outside for their exercise time and kill two birds with one stone. ✔️ If you work from home coordinate work times with your partner. Hubby and I discuss in the morning what we have on and take turns on who will home school and watch the littles.

✔️ Reach out to friends or other mums. Join the school related groups on Facebook so you can get support and ideas, while connecting with people that don’t watch Rainbow Rangers.(if you’re not there yet this could be a new show to keep them occupied 🤣 you’re welcome)

✔️ Check out what is being shown online or on TV. Our local zoo is doing live sessions and last year the ABC did educational hours too 👌🏻 ✔️ Focus on what you did achieve, not what you didn’t. ✔️ Take time for you. Reset. Be kind to yourself. ✔️ “This too shall pass” 🙃

Stay safe x
