It’s a new day and you’re tired. Again! You feel you’re in a hamster wheel or in the Groundhog Day movie. You’re exhausted from having to do everything and be everyone at all times. The mental load is so much then throw in work, sports, events, homework, cleaning, cooking and everything else.
You tell yourself that every other mum has her stuff together but don’t understand why you’re struggling. The truth is they feel the same way you do. Our mums lived very different lives to us. They didn’t have to cook everything from scratch with organic ingredients, stay home and be present with their kids whilst also working to pay their mortgage and continue to run the finances and the household like she doesn’t have a job. The expectations on mums are ridiculous and unrealistic! That’s why we are tired.
We have to take a step back and work out what’s really necessary for our family and ensure we have our cups filled so we can be the mums we want to be, not what society tells us we have to be.
