Prioritising self care <3

Just as I had been speaking to a client about this exact thing I received the article (below). To be honest I needed to read it myself! What do I do for my self care?

I had my nails done yesterday (a pretty rare thing) and the nail technician kept telling me to "relax", reminding me to drop my shoulders, and laughing at how out of my comfort zone I was. It got me to thinking, why don't we prioritise ourselves more? Why do we feel guilty about doing this?

I don't know how to relax because I am always multi-tasking. I listen to podcasts when I drive, I am grocery shopping in the bath, I listen to documentaries while I clean, I book appointments and order things the kids need when I put them to bed. I never do just one thing at a time. Many mums are probably nodding at this I am sure.

A lovely lady, Sandy, (shout out to @Kindship) told me, at a retreat I went to for special needs mums, to be mindful NOT to multitask. Enjoy your breakfast, be in the moment and be present if you are driving somewhere. We cannot relax if we do not 'practice' relaxation and if we do several things in those moments of 'relaxation' (a walk or bath) are we getting the same affect? Probably not!

I think we are all guilty of this.

Food for thought!

Take a look at this article for some ideas around self care rituals to hopefully spark some inspiration. Also feel free to let me know what you do that helps you relax. xx
